New Book: Comparison of 2017 SCC Rules and 2015 CIETAC Rules
China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) Journal on law and arbitration recently published an article that compares 2017 SCC Rules and 2015 CIETAC Rules.
The article highlights provisions in the two arbitration rules, such as administrative secretary, joinder and multiple contracts in arbitration. It further addresses the provisions in the new annex in 2017 SCC Rules on investment treaty arbitration. The authors view that the number of investment treaty dispute may rise gradually due to the active investment environment and the fact that more bilateral investment treaties are concluded between states.
SCC and CIETAC maintain a longstanding cooperation in promoting the development of international arbitration. Among the bigger events organized by the two institutions is a conference in Beijing on arbitration in China and Sweden in September 2016.
