The purpose of this book is to expose as simply as possible private international law, a matter which is considered difficult. It presents the three objects of private international law taught in L3 and M1 in law schools: conflicts of laws, conflicts of jurisdiction, nationality and the status of foreigners. The first part is devoted to the general principles of conflicts of laws and jurisdictions; the second sets out the application of these principles to the different subjects of private law; the third deals with nationality and the status of foreigners. The presentation of positive law, especially in this area of jurisprudence, has been favored.

This eighth edition incorporates the evolution of the case law until 31 January 2018, in particular the case law on the European Regulations Brussels I and Brussels II bis. It also presents all the European Regulations entered into force: the Rome I Regulations on the law applicable to contractual obligations, Rome II on the law applicable to extracontractual obligations, Rome III on the law applicable to divorce, the Regulation on maintenance obligations, the Regulation on international successions, and Regulations matrimonial regimes and registered partnerships that will apply in 2019. This edition also refers to the new divorce without a judge entered in the Civil Code with the law of 18 November 2016 and which poses many difficulties in international law private.
