Seminar on Energy Disputes
On 30 October, in connection to the Hong Kong Arbitration Week, the SCC and Shearman & Sterling invites to a seminar discussing investment protection and environmental considerations within the energy sector. Speakers will include SCC Board Members Dmitri Evseev and Jakob Ragnwaldh and SCC Legal Counsel Natalia Petrik.
The SCC regurlarly administers energy disputes arising from the contracts and treaties, including bilateral investment treaties and the Energy Charter Treaty. These disputes are often caracterised by a very complex interplay between the standards of investment protection and environmental considerations at issue. To address this, the SCC has established the Stockholm Treaty Lab competition encouraging the research of the ways to ensure investment in climate change mitigation and adaptation via international treaties. This seminar represents another attempt to draw the public interest to these interesting and necessary questions.
The speakers will include SCC Board members Jakob Ragnwaldh (Mannheimer Swartling), Dmitri Evseev (Arnold & Porter), as well as Nils Eliasson and Emmanuel Jacomy (Sherman & Sterling).
